Dr. Joni Splett

Dr. Joni Splett is an Associate Professor in the University of Florida School Psychology Program and Director of the UF Prevention and Intervention Network. Dr. Splett’s research focuses on the school-based prevention and intervention of mental health problems, including universal mental health screening; mental health service utilization trends; and implementation and fidelity monitoring of the Interconnected System Framework. She has co-led four grant-funded randomized controlled trials of the ISF and strategies to enhance mental health service receipt for minoritized youth. Dr. Splett is lead author of the ISF-Implementation Inventory and has secured more than $28 million in external funding. She teaches school psychology coursework in multi-tiered interventions, is a licensed psychologist, and was awarded a prestigious UF Research Foundation Professorship in 2023.

Brian P. Daly, PhD

Brian P. Daly, Ph.D. is the Department Head for the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Drexel University. He is a licensed psychologist specializing in child and adolescent psychology. Dr. Daly’s areas of interest in research include prevention and resiliency in urban youth; school mental health promotion; evidence-based psychosocial interventions for youth; leadership in schools; and global leadership in school mental health. His research has been funded by federal, foundational, and corporate agencies. Dr. Daly received an undergraduate degree in psychology from Boston College and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Daly is the President of the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP) and co-chair of the board on The Mental Health-Education Integration Consortium (MHEDIC) which aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and professional workforce preparation for the many disciplines involved in supporting student learning and mental health.

Dr. James P. Huguley

Dr. James P. Huguley is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work. He is also the chair of the Race and Youth Development Research Group (RaYDR) at the Center on Race and Social Problems. Dr. James P. Huguley’s research focuses on school- and family-based interventions that promote positive academic and mental health outcomes for African American youth. Dr. Huguley is the Principal Investigator for the Just Discipline Project, an initiative that aims to curb the use of punitive discipline in schools. He is also the Principal Investigator for Parenting While Black, a program that provides Black primary caregivers with supports and resources around best practices in racial socialization, educational involvement, and promoting positive mental health in Black families. Dr. Huguley also serves on the executive board of the Human Services Center Mon Valley, the advisory board of the Office of Child Development, and as a cohort lead for The Pittsburgh Study.

Dr. Huguley’s work is supported by the Institute of Educational Sciences, The Health Resources and Services Administration, The Heinz Endowments, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, and the Staunton Farm Foundation. He is the recent winner of a Larry E. Davis Award for Excellence in Community Engaged Scholarship (2022), a Distinguished Research Award from the Counseling and Human Development Division of the American Educational Research Association (2021), and an Excellence in Research Award from the Society for Social Work and Research (2021).
